Stirred, But Not Shaken

…Or more specifically, why my friend and I are here on this blog.

We’re restless Christians.  The itchy-can’t sit still for long-know there’s something I’m supposed to be learning -kind of restless.

I couldn’t tell you exactly where I am along my faith journey, since I’m not sure where the “end” is or if it’s even attainable in this life. I can tell you that over the last few years I have at least become increasingly aware of this path, and can feel it physically when I wander too far off course. 

And I’ve been blessed to have found several good companions along the way. We share those “a-ha” moments, whenever they come. We share what works. What inspires.  What’s difficult.  How to apply the Bible to our own lives.

We do a lot of things - we read, we pray, we talk, and we listen. Sometimes the journey requires work. Enjoyable, painful, and fruitful, but work. Other times, lessons come when you least expect them -while playing with our children, drinking a beer on the beach, or chatting with a stranger.

Our methods are far from perfect, but every now and then, in between the messiness of life, the Holy Spirit occasionally grants us moments of clarity. Times when things just make sense, when you recognize all the signs God is sending you, and when you get a glimpse at the bigger picture.

Sometimes this clarity lasts for a day, sometimes for months, but over the years I’ve realized that it just isn’t a permanent thing – at least for me. So in an effort to remember these little nuggets of discovery (so God doesn’t have to beat me over the head with the same lessons), a friend and I have begun this blog.

So we’re restless (Stirred), but we’re also fearless about our faith (Not Shaken).  We hope you’ll join us on the journey!
